Ginger-Sage Rye Cocktail

Ingredients


FOR GINGER-SAGE SYRUP

  • 4 oz. fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2 sprigs fresh sage
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water

FOR GINGER-SAGE RYE COCKTAIL

  • 3 oz. (6 Tbsp) rye
  • 1 oz. (2 Tbsp) lemon juice
  • 1 oz. (2 Tbsp) Ginger-Sage Syrup
  • 1/2 oz. (1 Tbsp) maraschino liqueur
  • Bitters and fresh sage, for serving

Description

  • Make Ginger-Sage Syrup: In a small saucepan, bring ginger, sage, sugar and water to a simmer. Gently simmer until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool to room temp; strain into jar or measuring cup.
  • Make cocktail: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake rye, lemon juice, Ginger-Sage Syrup and maraschino liqueur until cold. Strain into a glass and top with a dash of bitters and fresh sage.
