Ottu Shavige

Ingredients


  • 2 cup water
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cup rice flour

Description

  • Firstly, in a large kadai take 2 cup water, 1 tsp coconut oil, and 1 tsp salt.

  • Mix well and get to a rolling boil.

  • Once the water comes to a boil, add 2 cup rice flour and mix well.

  • Mix until the flour absorbs all the water.

  • Turn off the flame, cover it, and rest for 2 minutes.

  • When the flour is still hot, start to knead the dough.

  • You can sprinkle hot water if the flour is dry.

  • Prepare a soft and non-sticky dough. if the dough is too soft, then idiyappam will turn sticky once steamed. and if the dough is too hard, it will be difficult to press.

  • Now pinch a ball-sized dough and shape it into a cylindrical shape.

  • Place the dough into the steamer and steam for 10 minutes or until the dough is non-sticky.

  • Now grease the small holes mold with oil and stuff in the dough.

  • Press the shavige into a spiral shape.
